    • We are really sorry to report that Avocado's carcass was recovered today near the end of the TECO canal. Her tag had gone offline Monday afternoon, and we were searching for her yesterday. This morning it came back online, and we were able to locate and recover her for FWC.

    • Avocado was milling around near the viewing platform in TECO. She found a sunny spot to surface rest. Visual was discontinued to release manatees. She has a fishing lure stuck to the antennae of her tag. When visual was resumed she had moved to an inaccessible part of the canal further down and the lure could not be removed at this time. Gas was observed.

    • Avocado has been making frequent trips outside of TECO to the sound just to the south of the canal. Today she was just outside of TECO doing a good job of dodging boats coming into the channel. She cruised around the area eventually making her way back into the discharge canal.

    • Over the last couple of days Avocado has made a few trips out to the small sound just south of the discharge. Today she was resting in the shallows behind the viewing platform at TECO. She moved out to a group of manatees also resting. At first, she tried weaving between them, but they were grouped very tightly. She dove under them and the tag antennae must have been touching their bellies because as she moved, they all would roll over and move. I guess you would call it Sea Cow Tipping. She made her way back to the shallows behind the platform and went back to resting.

    • After her release yesterday, Avocado explored the sound on the south side of the discharge canal, moving back into TECO this morning. She was observed milling at the far east end under the viewing platform. Though there were many manatees near the outflows Avocado was alone moving far up into the mangroves. A small manatee swam under the deck and Avocado abandoned the mangroves to interact with it. They both started swimming towards a larger group of manatees.
