    • Sadly, Laverne was found dead at the CCEC FPL plant on the north side of the peninsula.  FWC brought her in and performed a necropsy, and the cause of death was determined to be cold stress.  She had been steadily at the power plant for the last week and had been there during each cold front.  This outcome is very surprising considering her usage of a warm water source, so we will review additional data provided by the tag to get finer scale details about her locations and the temperatures of the water she was in.
